Long ago,in the quiet Longjing Village,
Surrounded by tea fields and serene nature, there was an old story that only one cursed lantern roamed the town during the Mid-Autumn Festival days, in the quiet Longjing village, surrounded by tea fields and tranquil nature, there was an old story that told that only one cursed lantern roamed the town during the days of the Mid-Autumn Festival. The myth goes that it was made by Liang, a famous blacksmith and lantern maker during the Ming Dynasty. Liang's daughter Mei was engaged to a formidable warlord, to whom she was promised as her sole inheritance. But Liang did not want his daughter Mei to marry him. In a desperate and failed attempt to save her from this trouble, Liang created a unique lantern and bound her soul to it in an ancient ritual,
Which was not possible but he believed that
If she could somehow escape to another place before she was caught then perhaps their bad luck would end.But things soon went horribly wrong in the ritual. Instead of freeing Mei, Liang cursed her to live in torment for eternity. When the formidable chieftain found out what Liang really was, he killed Liang in a fit of rage and terror and locked the lantern in a hidden compartment beneath his grand mansion. As it happened, the chieftain soon died a horrible death as punishment and his mansion lay in ruins for centuries. The villagers believed that Mei's spirit would return during the Mid-Autumn Festival and punish anyone who found her lantern.
A hundred years had since passed and in,
The modern Longjing a young historian named Xiaoming has arrived to scope out local legends for his first book. Baited by the tale of the haunted lantern, he set forth to reveal what lies hidden in this myth. Based on an ancient map he found in the village library, Xiaoming was able to find the remains of that warlord's mansion. He began to explore the ruins in the light of a full-moon night. He found a hidden corridor and ended up in an underground room. A million cobwebs that grace the ancient lantern in its dust ridden glory stood dead central. Ignoring his neighbours' warning, he scrubbed it clean and then lit the lantern. The lanterns lit up and a cold air filled the room, making Xiaoming shiver. Shadows flashed in the light of the cave, a maiden's voice calling out to him. Xiaoming realized too late that he had provoked Mei's spirit.
Then, suddenly the whispers turned to cries and the cold grew.
Xiaoming opened his eyes, and there he saw Mei's ghostly spirit staring at him with her sad but vengeful eyes.
Her fingers touched his skin and he felt a chill. While telling her unpleasant story, Mei spread the echo of a voice within the room. She was calling for revenge on the chieftain's clan. Frightened, Xiaming asked her the reason and immediately promised her that he would commit to helping her find her inner peace. Mei's spirit, who lived in the midst of seeking vengeance and an attempt to emancipate, gave her the opportunity to prove her sincere intentions. She revealed that the only way to be free from the curse was to repeat the same ritual that originally implicated her,
The good intentions of Xiaming and the heart focused on freeing her.
Determination to rectify his mistake, Xiaming collected all the necessary materials and finally performed a function guided by an old manuscript. With each iteration of the magic, the light of the lanterns became brighter until it became irresistible to Maria and had no choice but toLight. Suddenly the lantern caught fire and her anguished screams were silenced. When the spell was broken, Mei's spirit was set free. After being freed from the curse, Xiaoming's people regarded him as a savior when he returned to the village. He warned those who had encountered the supernatural force to not engage in such activities anymore. As a result, a cautionary folklore developed around this cursed lamp, warning everyone of its susceptibility to unknown forces.
