Shanta's Backcountry

The backward area of ​​Shanta, identified with the confluence of dense forests of West Bengal, is surrounded by mystery and fear. For a long time, residents searched the areas in search of a woman named Shanta who once lived there. Shanta had tremendous knowledge of magic that could make anyone unconscious, which she used to protect the forest and the old reserve in the middle of it. In any case, her qualities cannot be praised only through story. In her time, Shanta was known for her beauty and dexterity. Men from everywhere tried to marry her, but her heart belonged to the forest area. She would visit the forest during her time, collect herbs and really concentrate on the reserve, where there was an idol of her revered deity for a long time. It is said that the deity, pleased with her good duty, also blessed her with divine powers. A few years ago, there was a famine in the district. Wild animals started dying due to lack of water.  On the other hand, the farmers and the people of the village went to Shanta for help. Shanta gave them food and medicines, which made her famous among the people. Through her divine powers she used the fertile land for them to farm and grow food. However, a group of greedy people from the city became jealous of Shanta, who saw that Shanta was taking care of a rich and valuable interior landscape land that could become a trading ground for them

One night, those greedy and cunning

business people sent a local goon named Raghav to kill Shanta in the jungle where Shanta lived. Raghav was already aware of Shanta's powers. He devised a plan and decided to confront Shanta by deceiving her. Raghav went to Shanta and said "Shanta, vacate this place and go somewhere far away. If you refuse, I will kill you". But Shanta refused outright. Raghav went mad with anger and incited the villagers against Shanta and falsely accused Shanta of practicing black magic and asked the villagers to burn this woman alive. Finally Raghav, hoping to do so, pushed her to the town square and asked her to surrender her powers. Shanta, knowing the real passion behind their profit, refused. Enraged, Raghava and more scheming men joined him to light Shanta on fire, as they intended to burn her alive. 

As the flames reached her, 

Shanta pronounced one last, horrifying decree: "I will protect this forest and its secrets even after I die. Anyone who ruins my abode and the forest will suffer the consequences of my savagery for an horribly long time."As her body burned in the fire, a startled scream echoed through the town. The next day, the area around Shanta's forest became even more bleak, feeling truly haunted. The senior citizens of the town who had scolded her found surprising, horrifying deaths as they wandered off the path, their disasters turning to fear as if they had witnessed something starting, All through the colossal length, various inhabitants who meandered incredibly close the safe space fundamental need seeing an uncommon figure - a woman in a streaming white saree, her eyes lighting with insane fire. Some said she floated on an incredibly fundamental level over the ground, her feet never showing up at the earth. Her presence was constantly joined by an unforeseen decline in temperature and the smell of consuming tissue.

One such experience occurred in 1998. 

A party of crazy youngsters decided to research the no safe space at the characteristic of association of Shanta's Woods. Among them was Aarti, a striking young woman who chuckled at the old legends. Equipped with spotlights and an energy of vainglory, they pushed through the underbrush to the safe space. Out of nowhere, Aarti's electric light shone and went out. In the shadowiness, the get-together gathered, their breath perceivable in the chilling air.

and a savage storm beat the party to the ground. Frightened, the young people avoided, leaving Aarti. She yelled as the ghost of Shanta slid upon her, her mouth opening in a quiet cry.' Aarti was found unconscious at the entrance of the safe house the next day. When she was found, she looked the same as she ever did. Her hair had turned white, and she had an unpleasant, distant look in her eyes. She never figured out what she had seen that night, but the residents knew - she had encountered the haunted, terrified spirit of Shanta. The story of Shanta's forest has since turned into a legend. The villagers stay away from the forest, especially the area where Shanta lives, and take care of their children. They never ignore the old spirits. Moreover, at nights when sleeping, they say, if you listen energetically, you can hear Shanta's terrifying scream from among the trees - a sign of rebuke that inspires the one who utters it and the one who hears it to move forward in terror.
